Abstract

Sustainable development needs of paper industry manufacturing processes with a good efficiency in the use of water, an almost total use of raw materials and less environmental impact. The following work is performed in a production industry, tissue paper, the objective being the study
of water cycle models in the paper industry for which you use the process simulator SuperPro Designer. There is an analysis of a base case to compare against the simulated experimental results obtained and the error calculated for each simulated value is below 10 % in the simulated model conforms to reality.
The model sensitivity analysis is performed by analysis of a screening experimental design of twolevel factorial type which studies the reaction of the major contaminant in the final product quality, total dissolved solids in water recirculation to the variation of different factors in the flow of raw material (recycled paper). Design analysis of experiments shows that, for a significance level of 10 %, variables HWS (Hard White Sharing the main component of the current raw material) and the carbonate content in the raw material are the only significant variables in the process.
