Abstract
The present paper shows how to conduct the simulation of the behaviour of the mass concentration of a particular microorganism (m.o.) in a bioreactor and in a collection of bioreactors, using the Simulink of Matlab. To do the previously stated, firstly we apply the matter balance to the mass of microorganism in the bioreactor as well as in the bioreactor system, getting from this the mathematical model which describes their behaviour (system of differential equations), then we will apply the Laplace transformations to get said model in a transfer function (the form used in the simulation). Two examples were previously described to obtain via simulation the behaviour of the responses to changes in the parameters of the system. All of the above will be applied in problem solving practical classes and in parcial examinations for topic # 2 of the subject FQB-VIII (Microbiology), which is taught in the first semester of the third year of the career of Chemical Engineering, with the objective that the student has a computational tool that allows him to deepen the knowledge received in classes about the fermentation processes that occur in the bioreactor.
