Microscopic Characterization of Petroleum and Water Muxture with Electric and Magnetic Treatment
Abstract
This paper presents a study of the distribution of sizes of droplets in the mixtures of oil M-30, with the following compositions dispersed phase: 2, 6 and 10 %. The mixtures are treated with magnetic field, electric field and the combination of both treatments. We perform a magnetic treatment of 0,4550 T and the electric field treatment is made by applying a potential difference of 650 V. The frequency of occurrence of water droplets in the emulsions and their size was determined microscopically, obtaining the highest frequency of occurrence exceeding 2000 µm drops in cells treated with the combination of magnetic and electric field, prepared from 2 % and 10 % water, predominantly deformed droplets. Finally, it can be seen that even though the size distribution of droplets may contribute to the water separation tank mixes of essentially 10 % water, this does not occur.
