Abstract

A study of retention time in a leaching industrial system adding carbonate of sodium as tracer substance was carried out. It was dosed of instantaneous form and the samples were taken in an
interval of constant time around 3 min. Symmetry in the tracer distribution curve and tendency more Gaussian and less exponential was appreciated. It was adjusted to the model of David Wolf and William Resnick with 99,68 % of regression statistician; to that of Tanks in series with 93,27 % and of Dispersion, 72,58 %. 11 % of dead areas were obtained given by hydraulic short circuits and presence of dirt, in consequence, the time of experimental retention was smaller to the theoretical one calculated. The tank number in series was N=4 and the dispersion module reached value of D / ( L) =0,145. The pulp density, the level of “arena”, the analysis of metals extractions and the test to determine the efficiency of the leaching system are variable to consider during the determination of the retention time.
