Abstract
The effects of slurry erosion wear have special significance for the chemical, mine and petroleum industries. Typical metallic material like steel 35XGCA, AISI 316 stainless steel and superalloy Hastelloy C-276 as compared materials with samples of steel 36XGCA, were investigated in order to evaluate the role of work-hardening ability and the damage mechanism. As analyzed variables were used the impact angle at different relative speeds between samples and erosive particles. Tests were carried out in the slurry erosion tribometer. The results showed a strong influence of the impact angle, especially for the steel 35XGCA with and without thermal treatment. The AISI 316 stainless steel and the superalloy Hastelloy C.276 showed the best behaviour as a result to its good workhardening ability.
