Modelation of the Eutrophication and Water Quality Index in Some Bays of Sabana Camagüey Archipielago

Abstract
From sampling taken between 2001 and 2011, was determinated the degree of eutrophication and water quality affectations in the bays Cárdenas, Santa Clara Oeste, Puerto de Sagua la Grande, San Juan de los Remedios, Buenavista, De Perros, Jigüey, La Gloria and Nuevitas, by means models that use the concentration of dissolved oxygen, biochemical and chemical oxygen demand, total nitrogen, total phosphorus and chlorophyll ¨a¨. In the bays Buena Vista, De Perros and Jigüey the degree of entrophication obtained from the nutrients index NI, indicated that they are subdued to processes of eutrophication, in the other bays object of study prevailed the condition oligo-messotrophic according to the values of NI < 4. The bays Cárdenas, Puerto de Sagua la Grande, San Juan de los Remedios, Buenavista, De Perros and Jigüey, showed a marked deterioration of the wáter quality, associate to the conjugation of factors as the antropogenic influence and the por removal of water.
