Simulation of grinding at the Cristino Naranjo sugar mill using the Sugar software
Abstract
Process simulation is a very useful tool for making scientific and responsible decisions. The objective of this work was to use the Sugar process simulator to model and study the mill stage in the “Cristino Naranjo” Central Sugar UEB of the Holguín province in Cuba. The study carried out was based on an analysis of the restrictions present in the technological flow and the main parameters to be taken into account, in order to achieve a productive cycle with the efficiency and productivity demanded. The use of this simulator in the process, allowed to recreate the work scenes and see the occurrence of phenomena, the behavior of the variables of the process and thus draw up policies for their solution. It was determined that the critical point in the mill area is the imbibition water and it was calculated that the required flow of it is 56 181.4 kg / h and its effect on the mixed juice and bagasse streams, allowing it to be obtained a productive cycle with the efficiencies and required productivity.
