Abstract

The development of the conceptual design of a technology for obtaining concentrated nitric acid at 99 % by weight from conventional nitric acid is presented through the analysis of 2 production alternatives, using a process simulator. For the conceptual design, process analysis techniques such as mathematical modeling, process simulation, optimization, economic analysis and Pinch analysis were used, among others. The process flow diagrams of both alternatives are also presented, as well as the validation of the mathematical model used to calculate the vapor - liquid balance in the water - nitric acid-magnesium nitrate system, as well as the sizing of the main equipment, optimizing the 2 feed and solvent inlet plates, as well as the heat transfer area of the heat exchange equipment. Finally, a summary of the economic analysis carried out for the two alternatives studied and the selection of the best one is presented.
