Abstract
To improve the operation in the settlers of basic nickel carbonate pulp end product of the plant of ammonia recovery of the CARON process, the velocity of sedimentation and densification of pulps with different floculants addition were evaluated. Six floculants weres evaluated: A-100, N-30, A-5030, A-28, A-130 and NA-310, with different dose establishing the optimal. The pulp samples took in the own points of sampling of the plant where it was carried out the study; to these they were determined the sedimentation speed without floculant addition (white) and with the addition of this, due to the quick sedimentation of the pulp it was used for the calculation the Coe and Clevenger’s method. Experiment demonstrated that all floculants valued improves the sedimentation speed and the densification of pulp with relationship to the blank sample; being the floculant A-130 the one that offered better results for all the studied doses.
