Abstract

The knowledge and the expression of the measurement uncertainty constitute an indissoluble part of the measurement results, as well as an indispensable element of the Traceability of the measurements and in the control and regulation of the manufacturing processes. The determination of the measurement uncertainty through the method of simulation of Monte Carlo is carried out, from the generation of random values, with the objective of comparing the results with those obtained by the method GUM (Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement). As magnitude to be measured is used the external diameter of a solid cylinder, which was obtained by the manufacturing process (lathed), and a analogical micrometer is used as measuring instrument. The results obtained by both methods are compared each other and important conclusions are obtained.
