Correction coefficients for the characteristic curves in centrifugal pumps that transfer lateritic slurry

In the present work, a study related to the calculation of the correction coefficients for the characteristic curves load-capacity, power-flow, efficiency-flow in centrifugal pumps is carried out, with the use of crude lateritic slurry at temperature of 27 ºC and concentration solids by weight of 41,93 %. Choking experiments were performed with the valve at the pump discharge, in order to obtain the characteristic curves of the pumping system for various numbers of revolutions of the pump motor. The results showed that the mathematical models fit a polynomial of order two, since R2 reaches a value close to unity. The determination of the experimental correction coefficients of load, flow, efficiency and power in the transport of crude lateritic slurry, allows to adjust the characteristic curves in centrifugal pumps, which improves the selection and exploitation of the same, considering the real characteristics of the fluid to manipulate.
