Abstract

This work is part of one of the lines of research being done at the School of Chemical Engineering from the Oriente University, in the search for solutions that enable cost-effective way of reducing the corrosion of equipment and metallic materials. The main objective is the analysis of the variables that influence the rate of corrosion and in the dezincification of current yellow brasses, and the efficiency of organic inhibitors made from the juice of vinaza or alcohol distilleries. The solid used as inhibitor in this study was obtained from the electrocoagulation of the wort-Distillery Combined Brewery "Hatuey" in the province of Santiago de Cuba. Corrosion experiments were conducted in blank or without the presence of the inhibitor by the
gravimetric method. They also were evaluated and derived from the electrocoagulation of the vinaza from the foam accumulated, as corrosion inhibitors of brass current in seawater at elevated temperatures.
The analysis of the influence of variables in the rate of corrosion and in the descincado, was
developed through a multi-factorial design experiment obtained in the professional program
Statgraphics 5,1, considering as independent variables: temperature and the concentration of the
inhibitor in order to get the best combinations of these variables that allow greater efficiency of
inhibition of corrosion and dezincification.
The results were satisfactory, as the use of substances that inhibit led to the values of corrosion rate
of decline would have a significant part of that prevented the emergence of dezincification of the
brasses as the concentration of inhibitor to reach a stable corrosion rate, meaning that while
increasing the concentration of inhibitor is not able to decrease the corrosion rate.
