Abstract
This work was directed at the problem of species metal recovery such as nickel and cobalt content in tailings of ammoniacal carbonate technology. It was implemented as agent of the leaching the liquid of sugarcane bagasse pyrolysis and its combination with sulfuric acid solutions. The pyroligneous acid proved to be selective, with very little attack on the matrix of the mineral. The more effective leaching agent was the pyroligneous acid combined with sulphuric acid solution on1/1 in volume, the pressure of one atmosphere, resulting in extraction of 70 and 80 % nickel, and cobalt respectively. In the leaching to four atmospheres with pyroligneous acid, selectivity and extraction increased, yielding results very similar to those obtained at ambiental pressure, in combination with sulphuric acid. The results showed that the pyrolytic liquids constitute an alternative as leaching agent for oxidized minerals such as the tailings of ammoniacal carbonate technology, and that its implementation can will contribute to the partial or total replacement of sulphuric acid as leaching agent.
