Abstract

This paper presents the results of leaching studies of the tailings of ammonium carbonate Technology Company ‘’Commander Ernesto Che Guevara’’, Moa; solid residual containing metal such as nickel and cobalt, which constitutes a serious threat to the ecosystem of the area. It is an artificially low grade ore that must be used by the economic contributions that represent the country and reduced negative environmental impact that its accumulation creates. For the recovery of metal is the alternative to this residual leaching, using as agents of liquids obtained by extraction of the cane bagasse pyrolysis, combined with sulfuric acid solution 1 mol/L. For the study took into account factors such as temperature and particle size. The results of extraction and selectivity obtained indicate that the pyroligneous bagasse acid combined with sulfuric acid 1 mol / L, has the ability to leach the nickel, cobalt, iron, manganese and magnesium. With the combination of these acids, including 1 / 1 in volume and one atmosphere of pressure, reached extraction of nickel and cobalt of 83.30% and 64.09 respectively.
