Abstract
The liquid products of pyrolysis are constituted for a large variety of organic compounds. The conditions of development of process and composition of the biomass influence notably in the composition of the liquids of pyrolysis. This paper presents the results of characterization by gas chromatographic–mass spectrometric (GC–MS) analysis of three liquid fractions that wereobtained by vacuum pyrolysis of sugarcane bagasse. The fraction of tar is constituted fundamentally by levoglucosan and phenolic compounds, while the pyroligneous acid has in its composition carboxilic acids such as acetic, formic, and propanoic among others.
