Abstract

The development of this study was to perform a sampling process in the first reactor of the battery in the process of neutralization, yielding the acid concentration in each sample, plus the values of operating variables corresponding to each of them. This led to the identification of the controlling step and the model of the process of neutralization. We determined the values of reaction time, considering the full chemical reaction, diffusion and external diffusion in the crust as a possible controlling steps and their dependence on acid concentration and temperature of the system. The analysis of results allows for a hand out the chemical reaction and diffusion in the crust as a controlling step of the reaction since the first case, the full reaction time increases with increasing temperature and in the second case this increases with increasing concentration and on the other hand, concluded that external diffusion is the most
likely controls the process of neutralization, with the model also identified the process of neutralization.
