Abstract

This work is part of one of the research being conducted at the Chemical Engineering Faculty, Universidad de Oriente, looking for solutions to achieve operational conditions technically and
economically more feasible to influence the process of electrocoagulation of the vinasse to determine these conditions using iron electrodes. The vinasse used in this work is obtained as a residual of the process of obtaining alcohol from the end of the process of honey production from sugar cane. Experimental tests were conducted to determine the operational parameters on electrocoagulation process (current density, electrolysis time and pH of the electrolyte solution). The study of the electrocoagulation process is the determination of color as a parameter of quality of vinasse and for monitoring the effectiveness of this process in terms of decontamination and collection of solids. Once these conditions, a preliminary economic analysis which determined the operational cost
expressed in $ per ton of solid-removed was made.
